I love dogs. Their cheerful smiles are always such a welcome addition to my day. After our two pups crossed the rainbow bridge, I’m pawsitvely grateful that Santa Barbara is such a dog-friendly town with a myriad of places our well-behaved furry friends are welcome to inhabit. This post is in memory of Poe and Lucy, two of the weirdest, most wonderful doggies ever. I wish they could have tried all these dog-friendly happy hours.
For the hoomans, choose from jumbo onion rings, a bbq chicken quesadilla or the famous homemade potato chips with gorgonzola cheese, washed down with a (discounted) handcrafted beer or cocktail. Pups have an extensive menu for meat eaters and vegetarians, including steak bites, chicken strips, marrow bone, or a veggie patty. No one leaves here hungry or disappointed.
The Cruisery is clearly passionate about its happy hours and its doggos. It probably has one of the most extensive menus I’ve seen for all types of patrons (two and four-legged).
The current two-legged menu has creative and delicious cocktails such as the gin-based Lavender Lemonade and the Riviera Sunset with hibiscus tequila and pineapple. There are also plenty of food options like baked burrata or shrimp ceviche. Our four-legged counterparts have their own delectable food options like peanut butter and banana pupsicles, a fido burger, or diced filet! Go all in and book your dog’s birthday!
Rori’s is a kid-friendly happy hour, but it turns out, it’s also dog-friendly!
Its Carpinteria, Montecito, and Santa Barbara locations all offer BOGOs for adults and children AND Chilly Dogs for pups. This frozen treat is made with organic yogurt, bananas, peanut butter and a hint of molasses. We used to give these to our dogs on a hot day and they happily licked the container clean (and then shredded the cup).
The outdoor patio is spacious and well-designed with shaded and unshaded tables, fire pits, and a lovely view of the mountains. I didn’t see a dog-friendly menu but it’s the perfect spot to bring a bone and let your doggie lounge on the soft turf.
